Adem\u00e1s, hay una consideraci\u00f3n importante: <strong>\u00bfqu\u00e9 sucede cuando varios empleados tienen el mismo salario?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En este art\u00edculo utilizaremos una tabla llamada <strong>EMPLOYEES<\/strong> con una columna llamada <strong>SALARY<\/strong> y veremos diferentes m\u00e9todos para encontrar el <strong>s\u00e9ptimo salario m\u00e1s alto<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tabla EMPLOYEES<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Supongamos que tenemos los siguientes datos:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>SELECT employee_id,\n       first_name,\n       last_name,\n       salary\nFROM class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">M\u00e9todo 1: utilizando DENSE_RANK()<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Una de las mejores formas de resolver este problema es utilizando la funci\u00f3n anal\u00edtica:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>DENSE_RANK()<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La consulta ser\u00eda:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>SELECT employee_id,\n       first_name,\n       last_name,\n       salary\nFROM (\n    SELECT employee_id,\n           first_name,\n           last_name,\n           salary,\n           DENSE_RANK() OVER (ORDER BY salary DESC) AS salary_rank\n    FROM employees\n)\nWHERE salary_rank = 7;<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u00bfC\u00f3mo funciona?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La parte importante es:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>DENSE_RANK() OVER (ORDER BY salary DESC)<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Primero SQL ordena los salarios de <strong>mayor a menor<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despu\u00e9s asigna una posici\u00f3n a cada salario.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Por ejemplo:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>SALARY    RANK\n------    ----\n24000       1\n17000 la misma posici\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Por esta raz\u00f3n suele ser la soluci\u00f3n m\u00e1s apropiada cuando hablamos del <strong>s\u00e9ptimo salario distinto m\u00e1s alto<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Obtener solamente el salario<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Si \u00fanicamente queremos conocer el valor del s\u00e9ptimo salario m\u00e1s alto:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>SELECT DISTINCT salary\nFROM (\n diferentes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>SELECT salary\nFROM (\n    SELECT DISTINCT salary\n    FROM employees\n    ORDER BY salary DESC\n)\nOFFSET 6 ROWS\nFETCH NEXT 1 ROW ONLY;<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La l\u00f3gica es sencilla.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Si queremos encontrar el s\u00e9ptimo salario:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>1 \u2192 salario m\u00e1s alto\n2 \u2192 segundo\n3 \u2192 tercero\n4 \u2192 cuarto\n5 \u2192 quinto\n6 \u2192 sexto\n7 \u2192 s\u00e9ptimo<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Por ello, <code>ROW_NUMBER()<\/code> encuentra <strong>el empleado que ocupa f\u00edsicamente la s\u00e9ptima posici\u00f3n despu\u00e9s de ordenar<\/strong>, pero no necesariamente el <strong>s\u00e9ptimo salario distinto m\u00e1s alto<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">DENSE_RANK vs RANK vs ROW_NUMBER<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Esta diferencia es muy importante y aparece frecuentemente en entrevistas e1.salary\n);<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Esta soluci\u00f3n es particularmente interesante para entender la l\u00f3gica detr\u00e1s del problema.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La consulta busca un salario para el cual existan exactamente:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>6 salarios diferentes mayores<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Si existen seis salarios mayores, entonces el salario actual ocupa la posici\u00f3n:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>7<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p
